JoGo:The JoGo Project is a WAMMIE Award-winning jazz and gogo band from Washington, DC created by Saxophonist Elijah Jamal Balbed in 2014 upon completing his residency at the renowned DC-area performing arts center Strathmore. Now celebrating 11+ years of JoGo, the band has become a consistent force in the DMV area; having performed at Blues Alley, The Anthem, DC Jazz Festival, and recently expanding to the Mid-Atlantic and Southern U.S. with appearances in Richmond, North Carolina, New York City, and Upstate New York. In 2018, JoGo made history as the first gogo band to perform in Russia on a cultural diplomacy tour on behalf of the U.S. State Department. Since 2021, JoGo has maintained a residency at the legendary jazz club Keystone Korner which has become known as #BMORELOVESGOGO - a series co-produced by club owner and NEA Jazz Master Todd Barkan. Most recently the band has expanded to new musical territories with The JoGo Big Band - an expanded version of JoGo Project combining elements of Go-Go Music and Big Band Jazz. SpinKicK: is a band created by Norman Paul Edwards Jr. The band blends Dance, Funk, Hip Hop and Jazz into feel good melodies and slamming grooves. The music is influenced by artists such as Earth Wind and Fire, Jamiroquai, Herbie Hancock and Prince. It brings the party, and the artistry of music while having a connection to the people. By combining high energy showmanship, and lyrical melodies with a deep pocket SpinKicK aims to give the people a musical experience that captures th e essence of celebration. Our album The Power Within was released in 2022 to acclaim after the pandemic to great acclaim! You can find it on all streaming platforms and Band Camp! We have performed at Club Groove, Mintons Jazz Club, Radegast, Downtown Alliance Performances and various music festivals!
